Meanwhile, Pogba is in the running for the EA Sports Player of the Month prize, after scoring three goals and registering an assist in the Reds’ four league games during the month.

The other players selected are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Jake Livermore (West Bromwich Albion), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace).

The midfielder’s first goal in the derby comeback against Manchester City – a composed finish from Ander Herrera’s sublime chest pass – is one of eight strikes up for the Carling Goal of the Month award.

He is looking to become the second United player to win the accolade this season, after Antonio Valencia’s thunderbolt against Everton claimed the September prize.
