Manchester United have signed Diogo Dalot from Porto.

The 19-year-old defender has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year, after he completed his medical at Carrington earlier this week.

 The fee is believed to move around £19million and he becomes United's second arrival of the season after they agreed a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil midfield Fred.

 Dalot is a versatile full-back, who plays mostly at right-back, and will be looking to challenge Antonio Valencia for a starting place in the United defence next season.

 Despite only making seven appearances for Porto's first team in his breakthrough season the youngster has attracted a lot of interest for his impressive performances, and Jose Mourinho ensured the club moved quickly to secure the long-term future of one of Europe's hottest talents.

 Dalot arrived in London on Sunday ahead of completing his whirlwind move to United following a breakthrough in talks between the two clubs.

 The youngster spoke of his pride at being signed by the 'biggest club in the world': “Joining Manchester United is an unbelievable opportunity for me.

 "I have grown up in Porto's Academy and I am so thankful for everything they have done for me. But the chance of coming to the biggest club in the world is something I just couldn't turn down.

 "I'm excited about working with Jose Mourinho and learning everything I can from such a successful coach. I am looking forward to playing alongside the fantastic players in the squad.”

Manchester United signing Diogo Dalot is worth the gamble Dalot is currently recovering from a knee injury however the Portugual youth international is expected to be fit for United's pre-season tour of the U.S..

 Dalot has become Mourinho's second signing of the summer transfer window following an agreement to sign Fred was announced on Tuesday.
