Chelsea have signed Italy midfielder Jorginho from Napoli for an initial fee of £50m.
The 26-year-old had long been linked with a move to Manchester City but he has instead followed his previous manager in Naples in moving to Stamford Bridge.
Maurizio Sarri was confirmed as the Blues' new manager earlier on Saturday morning - following the sacking of Antonio Conte on Friday - and the announcement of Jorginho's signing completes a positive day for the club.
Although Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said the player was set to move to west London, City still believed they would eventually capture their man but it was not to be.
"I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea," Jorginho said.
"It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy. I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win."
Club director Marina Granovskaia added: "We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea. He was one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe and will become an important member of the playing squad.
"He has demonstrated his quality working under Maurizio Sarri and we are convinced his signing will help bring further success to Stamford Bridge."
Jorginho has signed-on for five years and will wear the number five shirt.
