Courtois

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was awarded the World Cup's Golden Glove after some fine performances in helping his country to third place.

He succeeds Manuel Neuer who was given the gong four years ago when Germany won the tournament and he is the second Belgian to be named best goalkeeper after Michel Preud'homme in 1994.

"It is not necessary to make ten stops to make the difference," he said.

Currently he plays for Chelsea and aged 26, looking ahead to his best years as a goalkeeper, he continues to look positively towards a return to Madrid.

Chelsea signed him from Genk as a youngster but he really came to the fore at Atletico Madrid, during three years that included him playing a Champions League final.

He was brought back to London where he has spent the past four years and done well but not with the same acclaim as he received in Spain, in part due to the difficult situation that has been going on at Chelsea with changes of coach.

In Russia he was named the best and must decide on his future, whether it be in London or Madrid.
